Nathalie Nilsen
Artist Nathalie Nilsen (b. 1983)
Art is Nathalie’s strongest form of expression.
She conveys vulnerability and depth in her paintings and feels truly at home when she can pour her passions onto the canvas. Her work is created with playfulness and carries footprints of dance to joyful melodies. Acrylic paint, chalk, charcoal, oil pastels, and gold are among the materials she uses.
On her largest works, she paints with her entire body – drawing inspiration from yoga, dance, tears, and joy.
Nathalie has over ten years of experience as a dress designer, where attention to detail was her strongest skill. She also worked for 15 years as a chef in several of Norway’s top restaurants. Together with some of the country’s leading chefs, she pursued ambitious culinary goals, always aiming to stimulate both the eyes and the taste buds.
Now, her creativity is fully devoted to visual art.
She grew up in a family of artists spanning four generations, where the paintbrush was introduced early. Despite this background, she willingly returned to the classroom and completed her studies at Prosjektskolen (Project School of Art) in 2022.
Through emotion and presence, she hopes her art will help the viewer notice the beauty and fragility that surrounds us all. To slow down.
Her largest paintings often begin with her eyes closed – removing judgment about what the piece “should be” and instead opening up to what it can become.
