Espen Stenersrød is an experienced, dependable, and inspiring drama educator who ensures that all participants are well taken care of through engaging, challenging, exploratory, and fun theatre sessions.
Driven by a strong belief that drama and theatre help build the people of tomorrow and a society grounded in empathy, communication, and compassion, Espen takes great pride and depth in his work. His goal as a drama educator is to create an environment where participants feel seen and included, respected and heard, encouraged to participate, and appreciated for who they are.
When working with Espen in the theatre, you will experience a sense of achievement no matter your starting point, a deep love and closeness to the art form, and a strong sense of belonging within the group and pride in your work.
Espen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Drama and Theatre Communication from OsloMet and Østfold University College, with a focus on dramaturgy and theatre in education. He also holds a professional teaching qualification from the University of Sunderland, where he researched drama as a method in language teaching and worked with students with special needs.
Over the last decade, Espen has worked at Oslo International School and has run his own theatre school, Viken Teaterverksted, since 2019. He has also led three adult theatre courses titled From Idea to Performance, From Idea to Short Film, and The Search for the Three-Dimensional Character.
Espen has extensive experience working with children and youth aged 4 to 18, as well as with adults up to retirement age, and he looks forward to welcoming even more participants into the world of theatre. His focus has always been on drama methodology, especially on communication, building connections across languages and cultures, and expressing oneself in an ever-evolving environment.
In addition to his work as an educator, Espen has performed in productions such as Machinal, Cleansed, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and various smaller productions with the former theatre company Kompani Kaktus.
